SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 34

Recognizing the many contributions of the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation on the occasion of its sixtieth anniversary.

Whereas, The March of Dimes was founded in 1938 by Franklin D. Roosevelt to raise funds through the efforts of volunteers to support the development of a vaccine to virtually eliminate the crippling human toll of polio; and
Whereas, The March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation is celebrating its sixtieth anniversary as a voluntary health organization working to ensure healthy lives for West Virginia's children; and
Whereas, For the past forty years, the March of Dimes has been a pioneer in saving infants from birth defects, low birth weight and infant death through research, education, community service and advocacy; and
Whereas, Our hope for assuring future generations of children a healthy start in life depends on the efforts and commitment of all West Virginians; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby commends the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation for its outstanding and dedicated work to ensure healthy lives for West Virginia's children; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby congratulates the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation for its sixty years of commitment and dedication for helping to ensure the health of our infants through research, education and community service; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the appropriate representatives of the West Virginia Chapter of the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation.
